The adventure

Spend four days wandering the wildlife-filled stretches of Maria Island (Wukaluwikiwayna) on a guided and fully catered pack-carrying multi-day hike on one of the Great Walks of Australia. After ferrying from Tasmania’s east coast across the Mercury Passage, you’ll spend two days walking along the white sand and clear water beaches of the coast. Then, journey through cloud rainforests, up to the peak of Bishop and Clerk and over to the Fossil Cliffs, likely spotting furry friends and squawking birdlife between the eucalyptus trees. Enjoy nights spent sleeping at beach-side bush camps and a heritage-listed cottage while dining by candlelight on fresh local produce.

Day 1Hobart / Maria Island WalkWelcome to Tasmania! Your adventure begins in Hobart, or Nipaluna in the language of the Muwinina and Palawa peoples, who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Hobart is now located. Prepare to be picked up from your accommodation in Hobart between 7:30am and 7:55am, from where you’ll be taken to your welcome meeting. Get to know your guides, collect your packs and sit down for a trip briefing. Then, set off towards the port of Triabunna and our private boat that will ferry you over the Mercury Passage and on to Maria Island (Wukaluwikiwayna). After a beach landing, sit down for a picnic lunch with a view of Shoal Bay, before walking over to our private and exclusive Casuarina Beach camp. In the afternoon explore the trail through the tall eucalypt forest, down to Haunted Bay. Wander back to camp, where a gourmet dinner awaits, followed by a sleep in the eco cabins set directly behind the beach.
