Sailing the Ionian: Greece beyond Athens

After checking in, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the city and learn about the site where the original Olympic Games were held.You’ll discover the history of this ancient sanctuary, its Olympian serenity, and visit the Altar of Hera, where the lighting of the flame for the modern Olympic Games takes place. You’ll also explore the ancient stadium and one of the world’s greatest museums, home to masterpieces such as the Hermes of Praxiteles, the Nike of Olympia, the helmet of Miltiades from the Battle of Marathon, and the pediments of the Temple of Zeus.You’ll admire one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — the chryselephantine statue of Zeus — and be captivated by the myths and historical descriptions surrounding it. After lunch on board, you’ll be able to explore its markets, where you can browse for great Greek products, foods, souvenirs, and other finds. Breakfast on board. It’s time to leave Kefalonia for Meganisi. As usual, you’ll enjoy lunch on the way to your new destination, and afterward, relax at one of Meganisi’s many secluded coves. Overnight stay on board.

Breakfast on board. You’ll set sail for Ithaca, home of the protagonist of Homer’s Odyssey. Along the way, you may stop at Atokos, a private island inhabited mostly by wild pigs, making it quite an unusual and memorable sight.Lunch will be served on board, and later you’ll have time to unwind in one of the secluded coastal coves and enjoy the beautiful Greek night sky. Your day begins with a refreshing swim at one of the island’s stunning bays crystal-clear waters, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery.Enjoy one last lunch with the sea views as backdrop on your way back to Zante, where you’ll dock at the Marina of Zante’s Old Town.
