Day 3Reykjavik - Thingvellir - Geysir - Gullfoss Falls - Hvolsvöllur - VikBreakfast at the hotel. Today, take part in an excursion to the Golden Circle. Your first stop will be to Thingvellir, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. This is where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart 2-6 cm every year. Thingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930.From here, you will acquaint yourself with Strokkur, Iceland’s most visited Geysir, known for erupting every 10 minutes. Next, make your way to Gullfoss waterfall, one of the country’s most beautiful natural wonders. After this, you will stop to see Icelandic horses and visit a local greenhouse before driving through the landscapes of the south of Iceland to visit the new Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur.*If weather permits, you will end your day going on a hunt for the Northern Lights.** Make your way to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay in Vik. However, despite our long experience in leading groups, please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that is very hard to predict, hence sightings cannot be guaranteed.*From September 2026 onwards, the visit to the new Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur will no longer be included.**Of the two nights you will be spending in Vik, your guide will choose which of the two is best to see the Northern Lights.

Its still blue waters are dotted with icebergs from the surrounding Breidamerkurjökull Glacier, part of the larger Vatnajökull Glacier. This glacial lagoon flows through a short waterway into the Atlantic Ocean, leaving chunks of ice on a black sand beach.The lagoon is filled with fishes that drift in from the sea along with the tides. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch the fish during the winter. Once you are done with your tour of the glacier, we will return to the hotel and overnight stay in Vik.

Today, make your way southward where you will encounter the Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, the Myrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull ice caps as well as the Katla volcano, some of Iceland’s most impressives sights.Your final stop of the day before making your way back to the capital is the famous Blue Lagoon. Here you will have the option to participate in the additional activity where you can bathe in the mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon (additional fees)* or stroll along the walking path taking in the spectacular views of this majestic location. Overnight stay in Reykjavík.*Optional Swim in the Blue Lagoon: With waters that are milky-blue and mineral rich, enjoy a visit to the Blue Lagoon, known for its healing properties, relaxing atmosphere and slather on a silica mud mask as you enjoy a complimentary drink at the swim-up bar.The Blue Lagoon comes equipped with an in-water bar offering soft and alcoholic drinks (first one free with your entrance ticket) and an in-water Mask Bar to slather on a silica mud mask.
