Day 1Day 1: Arrive CeleirósMake your own way to Celeiros. We recommend taking the scenic train ride through the Douro Valley from Porto to Pinhão. Here, we can support arranging a short taxi transfer to the Manor House. Accommodation: Spend your first 3 nights at a boutique Manor House, a restored estate nestled in the heart of the Douro Valley. The property showcases original baroque architecture, elegant antique furnishings, and curated heritage details that create a sense of timeless charm. Surrounded by vineyards and peaceful countryside, the estate offers serene gardens, inviting lounges and an outdoor pool, an ideal retreat after a day’s walk. Dinner is included each evening at the on-site restaurant (a 5 minute walk across the vineyard estate) where the intimate dining room serves refined regional cuisine crafted with fresh local ingredients. Expect traditional Douro flavours presented with a contemporary twist, accompanied by wines from the surrounding valley.

You will walk through many small estates, crossing the river twice before winding back up through forest and vineyard to Vilarinho.

We suggest a walking itinerary taking in the famous sites such as the Cathedral, churches such as 'Igreja de sto Ildefonso' and the 'Igreja Clerigos' with its monumental tower. Maybe walking along the upper and lower spans of the famous Luis I road bridge, admiring the riverside districts of the old towns on both river banks. We would also recommend a trip across the river to the other town, 'Vila Nova de Gaia' where you can take your choice and visit one or more of the famous port lodges. Prices and tour times will vary, Taylors do a good one with tastings for approx. 6E. Not all require bookings.
