Day 1Kathmandu/Chitwan National ParkNamaste! Welcome to Nepal. You'll depart Kathmandu after breakfast this morning, at approximately 8 am, travelling by private vehicle to Chitwan National Park. Of all the world's remaining jungles, this is one of the most enchanting. Discover a lost world of towering trees and twisting vines, looking out for the resident rhinos. There are also crocodiles, pythons, deer and brilliantly coloured birds that call this park home. Over the next three days, spend your evenings by the banks of the Rapti River in the small village of Sauraha on the edge of the park. During the days, you’ll boat along the Rapti, which shelters around a quarter of the world's remaining gharial population. This fish-eating crocodile has been hunted in the past for the supposed aphrodisiac qualities of its snout. Take a guided jeep safari to look for wildlife, go on a bird-watching experience and spend some time in a local village. Cap the trip off with an evening performance of a traditional stick dance by the local Tharu people.
