Ho Chi Minh City Day Tour: Mekong Delta (full day)

Duration: 8 hours Meeting Point: 8:00am District 1 hotel pick-up Finish Point: Hotel drop-off Itinerary: Leave the skyscrapers and busy city streets behind on this day tour into the countryside and Mekong Delta region. After being picked up from your hotel by a local driver and guide, begin the journey to Ben Tre where palm trees thrive on the riverbanks creating canopied canals. Upon arriving at Hàm Luông Pier, jump in a sampan rowing boat and float down the Bến Tre River, a tributary to Mekong River. Enjoy the breeze as you admire the lively culture along the river, local people fishing, and lush tropical islands. Visit various family businesses to learn how local people use ageless techniques to create their crafts, such as bricks, activated charcoal, dried coconut, and handy coconut husk brooms. Drive around the village roads by Xe Lôi, the local vehicle resembling a motorized rickshaw. Perfect your day with a delicious and filling authentic lunch from a local host house. Enjoy some down time and relax in the the beautiful countryside or cycle around the village on a shady path, passing green rice fields and vegetable plains. To get a sense of how truly beautiful the area is, board a small rowboat and be slowly float through the natural canals and visit the local fruit plantation to enjoy seasonal fresh fruits. Afterwards, embark on the sampan boat and reminisce about this once-in-a-lifetime day on the return to the pier where you will travel back to Ho Chi Minh City.
