Day 2Travel to Mt Kinabalu. Option to hike trailsIn the morning, travel by bus to the base of Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea. In the afternoon, stretch your legs by exploring the trails around the park or check out the visitor centre. Opt to enjoy some beautiful nature walks through lowland tropical forest on well marked trails or relax and prepare for the climb ahead. In the evening, there is a short briefing about the next day's climb.

Day 3Head off to conquer Mount KinabaluSet off early to begin the ascent up Mt Kinabalu. It is not an easy walk, but it is incredibly rewarding. Willpower is the main requirement as it's uphill all the way! Spend the night at Laban Rata in basic mountain huts 3,272m (10,735 ft) above sea level. Turn in early to prepare for the final climb very early in the morning.

Day 4Summit Mt Kinabalu (3-5hrs) and arrive in time…
Summit Mt Kinabalu (3-5hrs) and arrive in time for sunrise. Return to Laban Rata for a rest and to HQ for lunch. Continue on to Poring Hot Springs.
Day 5Travel up the Kinabatangan River. Optional nighttime cruiseThis is Sabah's longest river and home to an incredible variety of wildlife. We stay in the jungle and get to observe a vast array of insects, birds and animals in their native environments. Walking along jungle trails and travelling the river by boat you regularly see king fishers, hornbills, macaque, and proboscis monkeys. Very occasionally you may get lucky and see elephants, wild boar, otters, orangutans and other reclusive species.

Day 7Visit Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation CentreSepilok is one of the highlights of the trip where you'll get to meet the adorable 'wild men of Borneo'. Encountering orangutans and their human like features is a truly unforgettable experience. The centre is an excellent example of active conservation, re-introducing domesticated, injured and orphaned orangutans back into the wild.
